The Association of Management and Social Sciences Researchers of Nigeria (AMSSRN) has congratulated key institutions in the Nigerian capital market and the National Assembly following the global designation of Nigeria as a foremost leader in attracting investment through the capital market.
In a statement signed by the President of AMSSRN, Professor Uche Lucy Onyekwelu, FAMSSRN, the Association described the recognition as “a direct outcome of strong institutional collaboration, legislative backing, resilience, and well-thought, well-implemented reforms.”
Professor Onyekwelu specifically commended:
- The Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria (SEC) for its regulatory leadership, investor protection drive, and market integrity initiatives.
- The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) for driving innovation, technology adoption, and the creation of a world-class trading platform.
- The Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) for upholding professionalism, ethics, and human capital development in the market.
- The National Assembly Committees for their pivotal legislative role, oversight, timely passage of enabling laws, and support for market-deepening reforms:
- Senate Committee on Capital Market and Institutions
- House Committee on Capital Market and Institutions
- Capital Market Academics of Nigeria (CMAN) for providing evidence-based research and policy advocacy that have strengthened reform implementation.
“At AMSSRN, we believe that sustainable economic development rests on credible institutions, sound research, and robust legislative support,” Professor Onyekwelu stated. “The transformation witnessed in our capital market today reflects policy backed by evidence, execution backed by courage, legislation backed by vision, and growth backed by integrity. This global honour brings pride to Nigeria and signals to the world that Nigeria is open for business.”
The Association further pledged its continued commitment to support the capital market through research, training, and advocacy aimed at deepening retail participation, increasing listings, and ensuring that the benefits of market growth reach all Nigerians.
AMSSRN extends its heartfelt congratulations to all stakeholders in the Nigerian capital market and to the National Assembly for providing the legal and oversight backbone, and looks forward to even greater milestones in the journey to build a resilient and inclusive economy.
Signed,
Professor Uche Lucy Onyekwelu
